Brand new for 2018, will be a collection of trips, which we know will suit many of our regular travellers. While changing nothing in terms of the quality of service, accommodation and food you have come to expect from Johnsons, we will be adding the expert skills of guide Ashley Grove, who will help you get so much more from the rich wildlife locations we will visit.
Warwickshire born Ashley has formed a career from a combination of his expert knowledge of Birds in particular and his warm approachable personality. He leads Birdwatching and Wildlife Photography tours not only in the UK, but further afield in Europe, Africa, Canada and the Caribbean.
Where facilities allow, these breaks will include an evening talk by Ashley, who is a recommended speaker by the RSPB and Royal Horticultural Society. Each of Ashleys informative talks are illustrated with images from his stunning wildlife portfolio and punctuated with entertaining anecdotes of his experiences in the field.
We are excited to welcome Ashley to the team and be able to offer these trips to what we already offer and we look forward to developing this programme further in the coming years.
Our first trip, to the North Norfolk Coast in April, will coincide with the arrival of migrant birds which breed in the British Isles. However, with the many resident birds this also has to offer and some wintering birds, which leave a little later, we could clock-up close to 100 species.
The North Norfolk coastline is one of the most bird rich areas in the UK. This time of year, at top sights like Titchwell RSPB reserve, we will see late overwintering birds like Brent Geese, but also the arrival of UK breeding bird species, joining our residents, which could mean us seeing 100 different birds on this break. Special birds we hope to see include Avocets, Bearded Tits, Marsh Harriers and the illusive Bittern.

Seal cruise & Cley Marshes
Thousands of migrating birds pass through Titchwell in the spring, giving you an unrivalled opportunity to see many species of ducks, waders, seabirds and geese. As the days lengthen again, some birds like curlews are already departing north, whilst others such as wheatear and sand martin are arriving from Africa. Titchwell Marsh is, not surprisingly, one of The RSPB's most popular reserves from sandy beaches to lagoons and reedbeds - it's all here! See the magnificent Marsh Harriers soar overhead! Something for everyone!
What better way to discover the Broads National Park than by joining Broads Tours for a scheduled river trip. All trips include an entertaining live commentary; your skipper will explain the origins of the Broads as he points out the sights of interest including the abundance of wildlife. Light refreshments, licensed bar and toilet facilities are available on all river trips.
& Cley Norfolk Wildlife Trust - We take a boat trip to see the seals in their natural environment basking on Blakeney Point. Later we visit Cley Marshes (Norfolk Wildlife Trust). Perched on the north Norfolk coast, NWT Cley Marshes has a well-deserved reputation as one of the UK's best bird watching sites. The pools and scrapes attract water birds in their thousands, and no matter what the season, there is always something to see.
