Day 1

We drive north through the Scottish Borders to the Ayrshire Coast, arriving in Irvine, and our base for the next two nights at the Riverside Lodge Hotel.

Day 2

This morning we make our way to the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum, which offers a unique encounter with Scotland's favourite son. Set in 10 acres of the poet's cherished countryside, the museum includes the famous Burns Cottage, where the poet was born, the historic landmarks where he set his greatest work, the elegant monument and gardens created in his honour and a modern museum housing the world's most important collection of his life and works. There is free time for lunch here before we continue to Culzean Castle, one of Scotland's best loved castles, where we enjoy a guided tour and free time to explore the gardens, deer park and swan pond before returning to our hotel for dinner.

Day 3

We bid a fond farewell to Scotland and travel to Cairnryan to board our ferry sailing to Belfast, from where we travel to the 4-star Dunadry Hotel & Country Club for our 3 night stay. The hotel is set within the site of an ancient fort within beautiful gardens alongside the Six Mile Water trout river.

Day 4

Today we visit the Giant's Causeway Visitor Experience, before returning along the spectacular Antrim coast with its vertical cliffs, glens and mountain scenery. (Small separate charge for those requiring to use the Translink Shuttle bus from the Visitors Centre to view the actual Causeway).

Day 5

Today we are met by a local coach & driver for our excursion to Belfast. Here, we enjoy a half day 'step-on' guided tour of this fascinating city. Next, we visit Titanic Belfast, the world's largest Titanic exhibition. Located in the Titanic Quarter, right beside the historic site of the world-famous ship's construction, the exhibition is housed in an iconic 6 floor building. This state-of-the-art visitor experience tells the story of the Titanic, from her conception in Belfast in the early 1900s, through her construction and launch, to her famous maiden voyage and tragic end. We spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure in the city.

Day 6

Departing Northern Ireland, we visit Malahide Castle & Gardens where we enjoy a 45-minute guided tour for an extraordinary glimpse into the life of the castle and the Talbot family who resided there for 800 years! We continue to nearby Dublin Port and board the afternoon sailing to Holyhead, from where we continue to our base for the last two nights at the lovely 4-star Kinmel & Kinspa Hotel set in rolling parkland with views of the beautiful Welsh countryside.

Day 7

This morning we visit wonderful Caernarfon Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a stunning location on the banks of the River Seiont. In the afternoon we enjoy time at leisure to explore Caernarfon.

Day 8

After breakfast, we make our way home.
