Mon 7 Aug 2017: Join Johnsons Coaches for an 8 Day Escorted Coach Holiday to Eastbourne staying in the wonderful View Hotel and visiting Michelham Priory, Brighton, Sheffield Park, Bluebell Railway and Beachy Head.
There are few seaside towns quite as quintessentially British as Eastbourne. With its extensive beach, rows of beach huts, pier and promenade the town has retained much of its Victorian character and charm. There is plenty to keep visitors entertained, both during the day and in the evenings. Perhaps visit the Cultural Quarter and see the art exhibitions at the Towner Gallery or maybe catch a show in one of the many theatres.

We explore the bustling market town of Lewes in the morning. There are many historic buildings to admire including the Norman Castle which dominates the townscape. We follow this with a visit to the picturesque village of Alfriston. Nestling in the Cuckmere Valley, it is full of charming old buildings, gift shops, tea rooms and traditional inns. En route back to the hotel, we stop to admire the spectacular chalk cliffs at Beachy Head.
An afternoon visit to Michelham Priory - England's longest water filled moat surrounds the site which dates back to 1229.
Today is free in Eastbourne. Enjoy the many things on offer in this lovely resort.
Today we travel to Brighton, with its beachfront chic and iconic tourist attractions such as the Royal Pavillion with its exotic oriental architecture. Enjoy a stroll along the famous 'prom' or head to the 'Lanes' area, which is crammed with interesting boutiques.
The magnificent, informal landscape gardens at Sheffield Park (NT) were laid out in the 18th century by 'Capability' Brown and further developed in the early years of the 20th century with four lakes forming its centrepiece. This afternoon we journey back in time aboard a steam train for a ride through the picturesque Sussex countryside aboard the Bluebell Railway.
