Sat 16 Sept 2017: Join Johnsons Coaches for a 7 day tour of County Cork visiting Midleton, Bantry bay, Blarney Castle, Kinsale and much more!
County Cork is situated in the South West of Ireland, it is the largest of all the Irish counties and in many ways the most varied. Rich farmlands and river valleys contrast with the wild sandstone hills of the west, and above all there is the magnificent coastline scooped and fretted by the Atlantic into great bays and secret coves, strewn with rocky headlands and long soft golden sands

This morning we visit the Waterford Crystal Visitors Centre before heading west via the seaside resort of Youghal en-route to Midleton, our base for the next four nights.
We visit Fota House and Gardens. Located in the sheltered harbour of Cork, they contain one of the finest collections of rare and tender trees and shrubs grown outdoors in Ireland and Britain. In the afternoon we continue to the Queenstown Story Cobh. Here, we can retrace the steps of the 2 ½ million Irish people who emigrated from Ireland via Cobh on coffin ships, early steamers and finally on the great ocean liners. In fact Cobh was the last port of call for the ill-fated Titanic.
We drive into Cork where we enjoy a 90 minute sightseeing tour by double-deck bus viewing the city's highlights including St. Finbarr's Cathedral, U.C.C., St. Anne's Shandon & Butter Museum, Cork City Gaol and much more.
In the afternoon we continue to Blarney Castle and Gardens - the most famous castle in all of Ireland and home to the magical Blarney Stone. Please note that the uneven stone stairs of Blarney can prove difficult for those with mobility issues.
Heading west we take time to visit the historic fishing port of Kinsale with its narrow and winding streets. In the afternoon we continue to the Skibbereen Heritage Centre, where we learn about the Famine of the 1840s
Departing our hotel we visit the Jameson's Experience at Midleton. Enjoy an audio-visual presentation retracing the history of whiskey production in Ireland, followed by a guided tour of the old distillery. In the afternoon we drive north for our final night at the Talbot Hotel, near Dublin
Breakfast today is included on board our return Irish Ferries sailing to Holyhead then we continue homeward
