Indeed, we continue to Canterbury, where we enjoy a guided tour of its magnificent cathedral followed by some free time to discover its maze of intriguing side streets, which are rich with a variety of specialist shops.
Saturday
Today we visit Leeds Castle - quite possibly the loveliest Castle in the World. The Castle has a history spanning 900 years and is set on two islands on the River Len. Discover its lavish interiors, craft café, shops, falconry & maze. This afternoon we visit Rochester with its stunning Cathedral, Castle and historic links to writer Charles Dickens. The places that pop up in his books still sit among its characterful streets, shops and ancient buildings. Highlights include the Six Poor Travellers House and Miss Haversham's 'home'. The Guildhall Museum is alive with interactive Dickens exhibits, while Baggins Book Bazaar, stands out as one of England's largest second-hand book shops.
Sunday
We visit Dover Castle & the Secret Wartime Tunnels. Spectacularly situated above the famous white cliffs this magnificent castle has guarded our shores for 20 centuries. The Secret Wartime tunnels are Fascinating to explore as is the richly furnished Great Tower, where costumed actors introduce medieval life at King Henry II's court.
Monday
Departing after breakfast we make our way homeward, arriving back during the late afternoon.
