Eastbourne is one of Englands most elegant seaside resorts with a wide promenade extending along the broad shingle beach. A relaxed holiday atmosphere pervades the Grand Parade, with its famous old pier dating from 1870 and the remarkable bandstand of 1935. Beyond the town the cliff top rises to the foothills of the South Downs, while the lower promenade leads to gardens with fine views across the bay to Hastings.

We travel to the Sussex Coast, making a stop for our included lunch en-route, arriving in our resort during the afternoon.
We cross the South Downs to enjoy the views at Beachy Head, reaching Birling Gap. Return via the scenic Seven Sisters to Alfriston,
one of the oldest and prettiest villages in Sussex.
Today we visit Sissinghurst Castle Garden (NT) - One of the world's most celebrated gardens. Created in the 1930's by the garden designer and writer Vita Sackville-West and her husband Sir Harold Nicolson, it lies within the intimate setting of an Elizabethan mansion. Discover the glorious, colourful floral displays, lakeside and woodland walks all set within the unspoilt Wealden countryside.
A day at leisure in Eastbourne, where you might be fortunate enough to catch a concert at the Grand Parade Bandstand. Stroll along Eastbourne Pier to enjoy a cup of tea in the Victorian tearooms or visit the Wish Tower, from where you can visit the Lifeboat Museum, Heritage Centre and Winter Gardens.
The magnificent, informal landscape gardens at Sheffield Park (NT) were laid out in the 18th century by 'Capability' Brown and further developed in the early years of the 20th century with four lakes forming its centerpiece. This afternoon we journey back in time aboard a steam train for a ride through the picturesque Sussex countryside aboard the Bluebell Railway.
We return homeward, making a stop for our included lunch en-route, arriving late afternoon.
3* New Wilmington Hotel, Eastbourne
This friendly family run hotel is located very close to the sea, bandstand, Wish Tower, Winter Gardens and Devonshire Park. The pier and shopping centre are only a few minutes away.
