Travelling north to Scotland we arrive at our hotel with time to settle in prior to dinner.
We begin today in Aviemore with a journey on the Strathspey Steam Railway. We take the ten mile journey through the beautiful Highland scenery to Broomhill. In the afternoon we visit the Glenlarclas Distillery. Discover not only the magic of malt whisky production and maturation, but the unique history of the family owned distillery.
This morning we travel to the village of Drumnadrochit and visit the award-winning Loch Ness Centre and Exhibition. We then travel to the nearby Clansman Harbour and enjoy a scenic cruise on Loch Ness. With beautiful views of Urquhart Castle and a chance to search the serene waters for a glimpse of Nessie! We then drive to Inverness, capital of the Highlands, where there is free time to explore, perhaps visiting St Andrew's Cathedral or the indoor Victorian Market, with its unique range of shops.
This morning we take the scenic drive through the Cairngorms National Park, Britain's highest and most vast mountain range, brimming with forests, rivers, lochs and moorland. We then visit the Cairngorm Reindeer Centre, home to the only free ranging herd of reindeer in the UK. We return to Aviemore, with free time to have lunch and explore before we continue to the foot of Cairngorm itself and board the Funicular Railway, the highest in the UK, ascending the northern slopes of the mountain on a spectacular 2km journey
After breakfast we commence our journey south. After a stop for lunch we arrive home during the evening.
