We drive north along the shore of Loch Lomond then through the remote Glen Coe to Fort William. We continue via the Great Glen and Glen Shiel to the Kyle of Lochalsh before crossing to the Isle of Skye for our 2 night stay.
A day to discover the magic of Skye as we head to Portree. We continue to historical Dunvegan Castle, stronghold of the Macleod Clan, before returning via the coast road, with views of the Cuillen Hills.
We head along the west coast, travelling through the remote Glen Torridon and along the shoreline of Loch Maree, pausing to visit lovely Inverewe Gardens (NTS) before arriving in Ullapool.
We head into the remote region of Caithness and Sutherland. Discover mile upon mile of rocky headlands and perfect white beaches. We pause at Durness, the UK's most north westerly town before continuing to Thurso for our 3 night stay.
Travelling via Wick we reach as far north as you can go - John O'Groats. Here we enjoy a spectacular 90 minute afternoon 'non-landing' Wildlife Cruise sailing through the Pentland Firth past Duncansby Head passing close to sheer 200ft high cliffs teeming with many different seabirds - See colonies of guillemots, puffins, razorbills, kittiwakes, atlantic grey seals and much more. We may also be lucky and see Killer Whales as there were plenty of sightings in July 2016!
Today a local coach takes us on a morning visit to the Castle of Mey. This former home to the Queen Mother stands overlooking the Pentland Firth. Free time in Thurso in the afternoon.
Bidding farewell to the most northerly aspects of Britain we journey south to Blairgowrie, and our final night.
We head homeward arriving during the evening.
