We take a leisurely drive to the West Country, making a stop en-route to visit the SS Great Britain, the world's first great ocean liner, which is based at Bristol. In the afternoon we continue the short drive to our hotel in Wells, our base for the next four nights.
Today is market day in Wells. If you are not into shopping - then explore the lovely cathedral and Vicars Close the oldest continuously inhabited street in Europe. In the afternoon we head to legendary Glastonbury for a tour of the Abbey.
Beautiful Bath is today's destination. Here we meet our Blue Badge Guide for a tour of this beautiful Georgian spa city - a truly unique city with its hot springs, Roman Baths, splendid Abbey and Georgian stone crescents attracting visitors for centuries
After breakfast we travel to Longleat, where we commence with a sightseeing trip through the Safari Park. Next we visit Longleat House, home to the 7th Marquis of Bath. After a spot of lunch you may wish to take a look around the magnificent gardens, created by Capability Brown or enjoy a boat cruise around the huge lake. Our admission includes full 'access all areas' ticket for Longleat but please note the coach does not enter the monkey enclosure for safety reasons.
We leave Wells after breakfast bound for Cheddar Gorge a place of wild and rugged beauty. Admission is included to Gough's Cave (please wear sensible footwear & be fairly steady on your legs). We take in the beautiful scenery and stop at the pretty cheese making village of Cheddar before continuing our journey homeward
