We travel north, first making a stop at Nostell Priory and Parkland (NT) where you can obtain lunch in their fine tea rooms and explore the house and gardens before we commence our journey to our comfortable hotel.
Today's outing takes us through superb 'Emmerdale Country' to Harrogate. We continue to the magnificent Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Gardens, near Ripon. The Cistercian Abbey, Georgian Water Garden, Medieval Deer Park, Elizabethan Hall and Victorian Church offer visitors an unparalleled opportunity to appreciate the range of England's heritage at this World Heritage Site.
Our first visit today is Haworth, an attractive village in West Yorkshire, located at the very heart of 'Bronte Country'. We include your entrance to the Bronte Parsonage Museum and allow free time for individual sightseeing and lunch prior to continuing on to East Riddlesden Hall (NT), a pretty manor house full of character, our included guided costume tour brings the house to life.
A short ride along Wharfdale through Ilkley enables us to view the famous 'Cow & Calf' rocks and high moorland scenery before reaching Bolton Abbey. Next, we take a steam train ride from Bolton Abbey Station to Embsay and then on to Skipton - 'Gateway to the Dales'. Here, we feature a visit to historic Skipton Castle, before returning to our hotel via the scenic Aire Valley.
Departing after breakfast we visit Harewood House, a stunning 18th century property with lavish interiors, extravagant furnishings and marvellous examples of fine art. We also see life below stairs in the popular old kitchen, scullery and still room. There is time for lunch before we return home to the Midlands.
