'Downton Abbey' is opening its doors again for a movie version in September 2019! Join us on our special springtime dates to Highclere Castle, more lovingly known as Downton Abbey, and follow in the footsteps of the Crawley family and their servants on this real life film set.
Set in beautiful landscapes with glasshouses and such a vast range of rare and beautiful plants, there is plenty to see. We visit during the Orchid Festival, a spectacular display of colour. Explore the exotic world of orchids and tropical plants and find out about the importance of these beautiful and diverse species.
Liverpool's Albert Dock area offers an interesting array of waterfront shops, cafes and museums, together with many reminders of its past. We start the day with a fascinating boat trip on the River Mersey, followed by free time for lunch. We then join a local guide to commence our on-board Musical History Tour which includes passing the childhood homes of famous stars, pausing at well-known TV and Film locations, as well as Penny Lane, Strawberry Field and the birth places of The Beatles.
The skies above Wiltshire are set to be filled with dozens of spectacular hot air balloons as Longleat stages its annual Sky Safari extravaganza. Following on from the popularity of last year's event, organisers are hoping this year's will be the largest annual event of its kind in the UK with over 100 balloons scheduled to take part. Hot air balloons of all shapes and sizes, including Longleat's very own 'flying lion' will be making a series of mass ascents into the sky above the estate.
The castle square, with its traditional open-air market and the town's historic Castle provide the perfect backdrop for this popular festival. This small town has a large reputation for good food and drink, and will feature well over 100 quality small independent food and drink producers from the Marches, the England-Wales border country.
The fair is probably the leading event of its type in the world. The show, on a mammoth 500-acre site, recreates English country life as it was in the late 1800's and early 1900's. The extraordinary spectacle includes 200 working steam engines, 100 fairground organs, 50 showmen's engines, old time steam fun fair, vintage tractors, cars and motorcycles.
Set on the permanent site in Builth Wells, the Show has been held for over 100 years and is a great day out. There will be displays of top quality livestock, over 1,000 trade stands selling produce and handicrafts, along with main ring entertainment and attractions.
