Torquay, on the English Riviera, is one of the jewels of the South West with its iconic palm trees and Italian style white villas perched high on the surrounding hillsides. There are fabulous yachts moored in the modern marina which help to create a truly relaxing, continental and stylish atmosphere that visitors' just love to soak up. Enjoy the superb beaches and spectacular views from the cliff top coastal paths or simply stroll along the elegant seafront promenade. Torquay has an excellent shopping centre and there are plenty of bars and restaurants to suit everybody.

Monday

Our first visit today is to Paignton. Explore the harbour and sheltered covered coves or enjoy a stroll along the promenade. In the afternoon we head to the port of Brixham with its quaint narrow streets heading up from the waterfront. In the harbour is a replica of the Golden Hind. Sir Frances Drake's ship. Watch the many boats heading across the bay to Torquay and beyond.

Tuesday

A day of leisure in Torquay.

Wednesday

A day of contrasts as we head for Newton Abbot, a delightful Devon town, where it is market day. Wander through the old Butter market or just enjoy the outdoor market in the town square. Then it is on to Dartmoor National Park, a wild expanse dotted with granite rocks and tors rising up from the barren bogs, heather clad moors and hidden villages. We visit Widecombe-in-the-Moor, a typical Dartmoor village, probably best known for Widecombe Fair and its associated folksong.
