Be prepared for breathtaking views on this tour through Austria, Germany and the Italian Dolomites. Your Alpine adventure starts in the romantic, medieval city of Feldkirch, Austria’s westernmost town, located in the Vorarlberg region on the golden terraces that gently rise from the “Mediterranean” floor of Lake Constance to the imposing high alpine mountain peaks beyond. We continue to our second base in Italy, to the almost unknown gem of Lake Molveno, situated in the heart of the Brenta Dolomites. Enjoying a sheltered location this charming lakeside town has shops, cafes and restaurants as well as a lakeside promenade and gardens. It is a great alternative to the busier Italian Lakes and is a superb base from which to explore. With fascinating sightseeing, beautiful scenery and special experiences this tour offers it all!

Wednesday

Channel crossing to France then on to the Ibis Thionville Porte du Luxembourg Hotel, Yutz, near Metz (3-star rated) for dinner and our overnight stay.

Thursday

We continue south arriving in the afternoon in Feldkirch for our 4-night stay at the popular Weisses Kreuz Hotel.

Friday

To Lake Constance with an included railway trip at Rheineck on the mountainous ‘rack’ railway to Walzenhausen. On then for a visit to Appenzell with its famous painted houses before a second included train ride from Appenzell to Altstätten. Finally today, we call into Hohenems for some chocolate tasting at the traditional Fenkart Schlosskaffe.

Saturday

This morning we enjoy a guided tour of historic Feldkirch and entrance to Schattenburg Castle Museum. The afternoon is free for individual pursuits in Feldkirch.

Sunday

Today we drive to Meersburg where we join the passenger ferry for a cruise across Lake Constance to the Flower Island of Mainau - the botanic garden in Lake Constance where we will discover a paradise of flowers, plants and other exotic treasures. Our coach will meet us at Mainau later in the day for the return journey back to our hotel.

Monday

Departing Feldkirch, we travel through Austria, crossing the Brenner Pass into Italy and then on to Molveno for our 4-night stay.

Tuesday

A day to relax. The hotel is only a short walk from the town centre and lakeside. Enjoy the simple pleasures of the Trentino landscape and cuisine. The small town is as pretty as a postcard, with its twisty cobbled streets, 13th century church and brightly painted buildings huddled on the hillside. Spend those long summer days browsing independent food and craft shops, peoplewatching outside cafés and learning a thing or two about local history at the Museum of Costumes and Traditions.

Wednesday 2

A full day excursion travelling through the Brenta Nature Park to Riva del Garda on the northern shores of Lake Garda. Here, we can spend time in the beautiful old piazza surrounded by cafes and bars with lovely lakeside views before returning to Molveno via Sarce.

Thursday 2

A scenic round trip excursion to view the magnificent Dolomites. We drive to Madonna di Campiglio and marvel at the spectacular views of the Brenta Peaks. We return via Cles and the Val di Non with a short diversion to Lake Tovel en-route.

Friday 2

Departing Italy, we travel over the Brenner Pass in to Austria. We drive through the scenic Inn Valley to our penultimate nights stay at the Landgasthof Hotel Fischerwirt in Achenkirch (3-star rated).

Saturday 2

We retrace our steps to Yutz in France, for our final nights stay.

Sunday 2

After breakfast, we drive to Calais and our ferry homeward.
