Monday
We drive north, boarding the afternoon ferry from Ardrossan to Arran. Check into the Kinloch Hotel for our 4-night stay.
Tuesday
We start the day in Southern Arran with a visit to Lagg Distillery. Enjoy a 60-minute tour and tasting of some of the island’s finest malts. (Refreshments Included). We pause for photos at Paddy’s Milestone with glorious views out to Ailsa Craig at Kildonan before continuing through coastal villages including Whiting Bay and Lamlash to Brodick for free time and a visit to Arran Aromatics.
Wednesday
A leisurely start to the before visiting Brodick Castle & Gardens. Beautifully positioned overlooking the Firth of Clyde, the castle is packed full of treasures, period furniture, paintings and silverware. The landscapes gardens, dating back to 1710, include water features, wildlife ponds, a fine collection of rhododendrons, Bavarian Summer House, walled garden and woodland walks.
Thursday
Today, we take our seats in a comfortable Mercedes Sprinter Van to view areas of the North Island that are not as accessible to a full-sized coach. Discover castles, standing stones, wildlife and much more. See the Devil’s Punchbowl; the Witches’ Step and keep your eyes peeled for Arran’s “Big Five”: Golden Eagles, Stags, Otters, Red Squirrels and Seals. We'll pass through the picturesque coastal villages of Corrie and Sannox before turning inland, where we’ll share tales of the Highland Clearances in the very spots where they happened. The views will become more and more spectacular as we climb into the hills. We’ll have a lunch stop on the way and explore the ruins of Lochranza Castle then travel south with a stop at the tallest standing stone on Arran, The Druids stone !!
Friday
After breakfast, its homeward bound.
The Best Western Kinloch Hotel enjoys a stunning location in the quiet hamlet of Blackwaterfoot overlooking the Kilbrannan Sound and the shores of Kintyre. Facilities include indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, squash court, snooker room, lounges and public bars.
