We depart from Henley and journey north to Kendal ‘Gateway to the Lakes’ for lunch then onto your hotel in Keswick, time to relax before dinner.
Monday
A lovely day sightseeing in the Lakes – We travel through beautiful scenery via Ullswater Lake and over Kirkstone Pass before descending to Lake Windermere. Here we board a boat for a scenic sightseeing cruise on
stunning Lake Windermere. On our return we will head back to our hotel via Coniston Water and Ambleside
Tuesday
Today, we head off to the Western Lake District, where we board the popular Ravenglass & Eskdale Steam Railway for a stunning seven-mile journey from Ravenglass, the only coastal village in the Lake District National
Park. The line travels through glorious countryside with the Scafell Mountain Range in view. From Ravenglass we drive to the impressive Muncaster Castle & Gardens. Set in 77 acres of tranquil gardens, the estate also has a Hawk & Owl Centre with daily flying displays taking place on the Meadow.
Wednesday
This morning we visit Grasmere, famous for its gingerbread and of course it was once the home of the famous poet William Wordsworth. On the outskirts of the village, we step back in time as we visit the Wordsworth Museum & Dove Cottage. Now re-opened after a multi-million-pound restoration project we get a feel for daily life as the Wordsworth’s would have known and experience a humble home where extraordinary writing and
thinking took place
Thursday
Departing Keswick we commence our journey home.
This popular hotel enjoys an excellent location in the market square of the lovely town of Keswick. Cocktail bar and conservatory, stylish restaurant and pleasant lounge. Mobility Grade: 4. Town: Generally level. Hotel: Level location. Lift to all floors.
