In the heart of the Rhine Gorge, Boppard has a premier location right on the banks of the river. In all directions are historic towns, steep vine clad hills and dramatic castles which cling to the mountain tops and look down on the important waterway. All day long barges trundle up and down the river, often en-route from Switzerland to the mouth of the river in Holland. Visitors can relax in riverside cafés enjoying both the views and the local wine. With the Mosel nearby, this is a super touring destination. Our hotel has a premier location in Boppard, overlooking the river.

Wednesday

We travel to Dover to join our ferry to Calais, then through Belgium and over the border into Germany to reach Boppard. We enjoy a welcome drink, dinner and a film on the Rhine.

Thursday

A morning at leisure in Boppard, followed by an afternoon Cruise to Koblenz – Situated at the famous ‘Deutsches Eck’ where the Rhine and Moselle rivers meet, Koblenz is considered one of the most picturesque cities in Germany. Free time to explore before boarding our coach back to our hotel.

Friday

Today we visit Limburg an Der Lahn – a beautiful city with half-timbered houses embellished with carvings and sculptures. We then make our way to the picturesque town of Wiesbaden. See this historic city with its many renovated Imperial buildings. Wander the narrow streets in the historic old town, see the Kurhaus and Town Hall and marvel at the Cuckoo Clock.

Saturday

A scenic excursion through the spectacular Rhine Gorge, past the famous Loreley Rock to Rudesheim, with its crooked narrow streets and half-timbered houses. Here we include a visit to the popular Adolf Stortzel winery. Wine tasting is included together with a special memento of your visit.

Sunday

We visit the historic town of Cochem, in the most romantic part of the Moselle Valley, where the river curves between two hiking paradises - Eifel and Hunsrück. There is free time to explore; perhaps visit the fairytale neo-gothic castle.

Monday

Leaving Boppard, we journey back to Calais and join the ferry for Dover and home.

This elegant, 4 star ‘superior’ hotel is beautifully decorated in a ‘Belle Époque’ style and is situated on the main riverside promenade, only a stone’s throw from the centre of the town. The 93 bedrooms are bright and elegant and each is equipped with TV and hairdryer. During their stay, guests can relax in the hotel’s bar or admire the stunning view of the river through the windows of the wood-panelled restaurant. The hotel also has a sauna, steam bath and ‘Romanesque’ styled indoor swimming pool. Lift, Bar, Restaurant, Tea/coffee in room, Leisure facilities.
