Sunday
We drive north pausing in medieval Chester before continuing to Caernarfon arriving during the late afternoon.
Monday
This morning we visit Caernarfon Castle, recognised around the world as one of the greatest buildings of the Middle Ages and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before enjoying a scenic drive to Betws-y-Coed, North Wales’ most popular inland resort. We enjoy time at leisure for lunch here before visiting the National Slate Museum (free entry) to travel into the past of an industry and a way of life that has chiselled itself into the very being of this country.
Tuesday
This morning we travel over the Menai Bridge to the Isle of Anglesey and nearby Beaumaris with its medieval castle, lovely beach and Victorian pier. Whilst there we relax on a leisurely 80-minute return boat cruise to Puffin Island. In the afternoon we visit one of North Wales’ best kept secrets, the hidden gardens of Plas Cadnant. (Puffin Island Cruise is subject to weather conditions).
Wednesday
Today we enjoy a ride on the Welsh Highland Railway, the UK’s longest heritage railway. Our 2-hour one way journey runs for 25 miles from Caernarfon, past the foot of Snowdon to the picture postcard village of Beddgelert. On arrival, we re-join our coach and travel to the nearby unique village of Portmeirion, exploring the lovely, terraced gardens, picturesque village and shops.
Thursday
Departing after breakfast we return via Llangollen, famously situated on the River Dee, overlooked by its magnificent Castle, before returning home in the afternoon.
This stylish 3-star hotel is located in the famous coastal town of Caernarfon, North Wales. It has superb leisure facilities, including a sixteenmetre swimming pool. The bright and airy bedrooms all have TV, tea/coffee making facilities to make your stay a comfortable one. The restaurant is bright and spacious and there is a contemporary pub-style bar offering plenty of comfortable seating. There are also four luxurious, cosy lounge rooms with plenty of sofas and armchairs. Leisure facilities include an indoor pool, sauna and steam room.
