Monday
Departing Henley-in-Arden we
visit the gardens at Powis Castle (NT).
Influenced by French and Italian styles, this
amazing garden is cared for by the National Trust and has some of the most
flamboyant and stylish herbaceous planting of any garden in the British Isles.
In the afternoon we continue on to our hotel in Llandudno for 4 nights.
Tuesday
We visit Portmeirion Italianate Village. The village is one of Wales' premier
visitor attractions. Surrounding the village are 70 acres of exotic woodlands with
woodland and coastal walks.
Wednesday
A morning at leisure in Llandudno, followed by an afternoon trip to
Colwyn Bay where we visit Bodnant Garden (NT). Situated above the River Conwy,
spanning some 80 acres, the gardens overlook the valley towards Snowdonia.
Thursday
Across the Menai Straits and onto Anglesey, we visit Plas Newydd (NT)
with spectacular views of Snowdonia. The gardens include a fine spring garden and
Australasian arboretum. The estate also has collection of Rex Whistler works and a
Military Museum. After time here we make our way to one of Anglesey’s newest
attractions Plas Cadnant Hidden Gardens. Three different gardens have been
discovered, a large Walled Garden formerly a kitchen garden now planted with many
perennials, a picturesque Valley Garden with river and waterfalls and an Outcrop
Garden complete with a ruined folly. (Sensible footwear only please and Plas
Cadnant is not really suitable for people with mobility problems, wheelchairs,
or motorised chairs).
Friday
Departing our hotel we return to the Wirral Peninsula where we visit the Ness
Botanic Gardens. Filled with all year round interest, enjoy extensive herbaceous
borders, a Victorian style Potager, an alpine house and more. We return home during
the early evening.
On the resorts promenade and overlooking the Victorian pier and the magnificent sweep of Llandudno Bay, the Merrion is one of Llandudnos principal hotels and a firm favourite with our clients. Restaurant, bar and lounge.
