Monday

Departing Henley, we cross the border into Scotland and on to our hotel base for 4 nights - the popular 4-star rated Stirling Highland Hotel.

Tuesday

Opening its doors by invitation only, we invite you for a sumptuously engrossing tour of one of Scotland’s grandest houses - Broomhall House. A private family home for more than 300 years, Broomhall continues to be lived in, cherished and cared for by the family of King Robert the Bruce. Go behind closed doors in this exclusively eccentric tour led by a family member, uncovering the internationally important collection of fine arts and artefacts to be found in the regal high-ceilinged rooms.

Wednesday

This morning we visit Lindores Abbey Distillery. Opened on the site of the first recorded whisky distillery in Scotland, this is the Spiritual Home of Scotch Whisky. Revived after 523 years, the spirit started flowing once again from the copper stills at Lindores Abbey in 2017, with their first ‘drams’ released in 2021. Learn how the custodians of Lindores Abbey have made a sincere commitment to protect this important landmark for future generations during a guided tour, then taste the magic yourself during a tutored tasting. We continue over the Tay Road Bridge to the UNESCO city of Dundee, to discover HMS Unicorn - a magnificent ship that stands as a testament to naval craftsmanship and maritime heritage of the region. As one of the oldest British-built warships still afloat, the HMS Unicorn holds a significant and captivating place in naval history. Uncover the ship’s 200-year story with a guided tour, charting her origins in the Georgian Navy to her use in the Second World War.

Thursday

Our guided tour of Drummond Castle Gardens transports you to a world of natural beauty, serene tranquillity and captivating vistas. Renowned for its meticulously manicured lawns, vibrant flower beds, and timeless elegance, these gardens are a testament to centuries of landscape design. Follow in the footsteps of Queen Victoria, who remarked that the gardens were ‘really very fine’ during an 1842 visit.

Friday

After breakfast we leave our hotel and make our journey home with comfort stops en-route.
