Transport yourself on a journey through time to experience a day out, Victorian-style, at the annual Victorian Festival of Christmas at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The festival transports visitors to a bygone era where colourful characters roam the snow-covered cobbled streets. You’ll encounter an ever-popular traditional Father Christmas dressed in green, Scrooge in his carry carriage, chimney sweeps, and Victorian magicians and musicians. Fagin’s Tavern in the Spiegel tent, a bustling Christmas market, and street performers along the snowy lanes — it’ll all be there.

Friday

En-route to our hotel in Fareham, we visit Winchester's Weinachtsmarkt. The former capital of Anglo Saxon England houses its annual Winter Market close to the cathedral. Free time for shopping, sightseeing and exploring before continuing to our hotel in time for dinner.

Saturday

Drive to Portsmouth for a full day enjoying the Victorian Festival of Christmas. Visitors can explore the snow-covered Dickensian streets in the awe-inspiring setting of the dockyard, which is home to HMS Victory, HMS Warrior 1860, HMS M.33, National Museum of the Royal Navy and Action Stations. This popular Christmas Market, with its wide range of unique stalls, returns again for 2019, and there will be plenty of merrymaking at Fagin's Real Ale Tavern, as well as more Victorian characters and entertainment.

Sunday

Spend the morning at leisure in Old Portsmouth and explore the cobbled streets and narrow lanes where press gangs plied their sinister trade. Or perhaps enjoy some retail therapy at the impressive Gunwharf Quays with over 90 premium designer outlets and 30 cosmopolitan bars and restaurants. Other attractions close by include the iconic Emirates Spinnaker Tower, where you could experience a real 'wow' factor spectacular views across the Solent from the 100m high viewing deck (complete with the amazing glass Sky Walk - if you dare!). We depart in the afternoon, returning home during the early evening.
