Whatever the season, this garden's 12 informal acres are worth visiting as we discover a wonderful woodland garden; alpine scree; gravel garden; fine tree collection and spectacular flower borders. In the afternoon, we continue on to our Hotel in Llandudno for 4 nights.
We visit Portmeirion Italianate Village. The village is one of Wales' premier visitor attractions. Surrounding the village are 70 acres of exotic woodlands with woodland and coastal walks. In the afternoon enjoy some free time in Llandudno.
A day at leisure in Llandudno.
Across the Menai Straits and onto Anglesey, we visit Plas Newydd (NT) with spectacular views of Snowdonia. The gardens include a fine spring garden and Australasian arboretum. The estate also has collection of Rex Whistler works and a Military Museum. Later, we continue to one of Anglesey's newest attractions Plas Cadnant Hidden Gardens. Three different gardens have been discovered, a large Walled Garden formerly a kitchen garden now planted with many perennials, a picturesque Valley Garden with river and waterfalls and an Outcrop Garden complete with a ruined folly. (Sensible footwear only please and Plas Cadnant is not really suitable for people with mobility problems).
Departing our hotel we return to the Wirral Peninsula where we visit the Ness Botanic Gardens. Filled with all year round interest, enjoy extensive herbaceous borders, a Victorian style Potager, an alpine house and more. We return home during the early evening.
