ACTIVE TRAVELLER HOLIDAYS

BIRDWATCHING & WILDLIFE BREAKS With Ashley Grove

The Birdwatching and Wildlife breaks that were first introduced in 2018 proved to be a popular and welcome addition to our holiday collection. So, for 2019 we have three new and exciting itineraries for you to follow. Once again, all tours will be fully escorted throughout by Ashley Grove, who will again be adding his expert skills and knowledge, ensuring you get so much more from the rich wildlife locations we will visit.

Warwickshire born Ashley has formed a career from a combination of his expert knowledge of Birds in particular and his warm approachable personality. He leads Birdwatching and Wildlife Photography tours not only in the UK, but further afield in Europe, Africa, Canada and the Caribbean.

On all Tours we will spend time outdoors regardless of the weather...

Please bring sensible clothing and wear strong shoes or boots, as it can be wet and muddy. Our Active Traveller Holidays itineraries often include walks which may be up to 1 – 1.5 miles long over uneven ground which may prove challenging for those customers with reduced and limited mobility.

What else could you bring? Binoculars are recommended, and you may wish to bring a small bird guide book to help with identification or a compact digital camera, but this is entirely up to you!

Sunday

We make our way to our hotel

Monday

We drive to Inverness where we board the Dolphin Spirit for a cruise along the wonderful Moray Firth coastline hopefully viewing herons, otters and the famous Moray Firth bottlenose dolphins. Tonight, we enjoy a Wildlife Quiz in our Hotel.

Tuesday

A scenic drive through the Cairngorms National Park, Britain's highest and most vast mountain range. We board the Funicular Railway, the highest in the UK, ascending the northern slopes of the mountain on a spectacular 2km journey. Next, we visit the Rothiemurchas Estate for a tour of the parkland where our ranger introduces us to the herd of red deer and explains how the herd was first formed by capturing wild animals. Those born in captivity have no fear of humans and can be fed by hand. Tonight, relax in the hotel with a wildlife film and a talk from Ashley.

Wednesday

Today, we visit the Loch Garten Osprey Centre - an ideal spot to observe these magnificent birds, with fantastic views of the birds on the nest, plus close ups thanks to the non-invasive CCTV. Later, we visit the spectacular setting of Kincraig Highland Park, where we experience more Scottish wildlife and see endangered animals of the world's mountain and tundra regions.

Thursday

A morning at leisure in Grantown-on-Spey, followed by an afternoon drive along the Spey Valley to Ballindaloch and a visit to the Glenfarclas

Friday

We make our way home after breakfast at the hotel.

Please note:

Our Active Traveller Holidays itineraries often include walks which may be up to 1 - 1.5 miles long over uneven ground which may prove challenging for those customers with reduced and limited mobility.
