The Atlantic Ocean has sculpted southwest Ireland’s coast into spectacular peninsulas, jagged headlands, sheltered bays, sandy beaches and even lovely little islands. On this tour we will explore Ireland’s most famous coast and see the spectacular sights of the Beara Peninsula and the renowned Ring of Kerry.

Sunday

We depart cross country to South Wales and the port of Pembroke for the afternoon sailing to Rosslare. Disembarking in Ireland we drive the short distance to our overnight hotel; the 4-star Brandon House Hotel, New Ross for dinner.

Monday

After a leisurely breakfast we head west skirting Youghal and Cork, pausing at the Blarney Woollen Mill Centre before continuing to Kenmare and our 3-star hotel - The Kenmare Bay Hotel for dinner and our 4-night stay.

Tuesday

This morning we savour the unspoilt landscapes of the Beara Peninsula as we travel over the remote and wild Healy Pass as we head towards Bantry House and Gardens, a family home for the past 300 years with stunning views across Bantry Bay. On then to the coastal town of Glengarriff, where 37-acre Garnish Island is located in the sheltered harbour. Here we take a boat trip to see its famous gardens, typified by the rich variety of plants, with colours that change with the seasons.

Wednesday

A morning visit to the popular town of Killarney. We travel by way of the ‘Ring of Kerry’ via Molls Gap with its glorious views of the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks mountains and ‘The Ladies View’ which affords wonderful views of Killarney’s lakes. Maybe take a ride in one of the famous horse drawn Jaunting carts.

Thursday

Today we visit Derreen Gardens, a beautiful 19th century woodland garden with paths winding through rare tropical plants and opening onto sea views. The Gardens are set on a peninsula at the head of Kilmackillogue Harbour and surrounded by the Caha Mountains and in total cover some 60 acres. The afternoon is free to relax or explore Kenmare with its independent shops and eateries.

Friday

Departing our hotel after breakfast we travel via County Tipperary, pausing in Cashel where we can view the mighty Rock of Cashel set on a dramatic outcrop of limestone. From here we continue to Leopardstown, arriving in time for dinner and our final overnight at the Clayton Hotel.

Saturday

Breakfast today is included on board our return sailing to Holyhead then we continue homeward.

Tucked into one of the most picturesque corners in County Kerry, the Kenmare Bay is a perfect holiday retreat, with Kenmare town just a short walk away. The en-suite bedrooms are spacious and maintained to a great standard and are equipped with TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Bay Restaurant and Cosy Courtyard Bar. Complimentary access to the Bay Health Club offering a swimming pool, steam room, sauna and whirlpool. The hotel has a lift.
