Wednesday

Open the pages of the greatest mid-19th century love story as you join a museum curator for a specialist talk at
the Bowes Museum – a hidden treasure, in the very English countryside of Co. Durham, yet in a building more fitting to a
neo-classical French City. Founded by the passionate John & Joséphine Bowes and their shared love of art, this world-class
museum today contains the greatest collection of European fine & decorative arts including the 18th century Silver Swan
exhibit and paintings by Goya and El Greco. In the afternoon we visit the market town of Barnard Castle, located on the north
bank of the River Tees.

Thursday

Today we visit Dalemain Mansion & Historic Gardens, a Grade 1 listed country house and UNESCO World Heritage
Site, is nestled in the picturesque Lake District along the banks of the River Eamont. Dating back to the Saxon era, the mansion
showcases exquisite furniture by Robert Gillow and Thomas Chippendale, and boasts a museum featuring one of the earliest
examples of mid-18th century hand-painted Chinese wallpaper. The formal gardens, adorned with over 200 roses, apple trees,
and the UK's widest silver fir tree, have previously won the “Historic Houses Garden of the Year Award” and has been named
among the top 10 gardens in Northern
Britain.
