Monday

En-route to our hotel we travel via the gardens of Levens Hall in the Southern Lakes where there are twelve wonderful acres of gardens to explore. From here, it’s a short drive to our hotel for our 4-night stay.

Tuesday

Today, we visit Lakes Aquarium on the southern shore of Windermere. The Lakes Aquarium is home to hundreds of amazing creatures, showcasing local wildlife. Also, enjoy a 45-minute cruise on Lake Windermere where we can relish the magnificent mountain scenery.

Wednesday

We drive to Morecambe where you can stroll along the prom, have a coffee or an ice cream in one of the cafes lining the sea front or visit the Eric Morecambe Statue which looks out over the bay. Next, we continue to the famous Carnforth Station Heritage Centre and Refreshment Room. It has been restored to its 1940’s glory when the Refreshment Room was used as the setting in the film 'Brief Encounter'.

Thursday

A leisurely drive through the Furness region which includes a return steam train journey on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway from the coastal village of Ravenglass through the foothills of the Lake District National Park. We continue to Muncaster Castle, Gardens, Hawk and Owl Centre, where we spend time exploring this haunted castle and its grounds!

Friday

We leave for home after a last, hearty ‘Cumbrian’ breakfast.

Netherwood is a handsome Victorian manor nestled amid greenery by Morecambe Bay. This Grade II listed mansion offers the perfect combination of olde-world charm and all the essential modern facilities and comforts. Offering superb cuisine, comfortable bedrooms, cosy lounges and sunny terraces, all within easy access to the Lake District.

Mobility Grade: 3. The hotel does not have any ground floor bedrooms, but does have a lift to all floors, except to 5 rooms on the second floor accessed via 19 steps. The hotel only has three rooms with ‘walk in’ showers.
