After a relaxing Brittany Ferries crossing to Santander, unwind at the 4-star Hotel Olimpo in the coastal village of Isla, with gardens leading towards sandy beaches. Enjoy time at leisure by the sea plus included excursions to the medieval streets of Santillana del Mar, elegant Comillas, the spectacular Picos de Europa, Santoña, Laredo and Santander. With scenic drives, charming fishing towns, mountain views and comfortable travel throughout, this is a wonderful introduction to northern Spain’s greener side.

Day One

We travel to Plymouth where we board the Brittany Ferries cruise ferry service to Santander. Relax and enjoy a night on board ship. (Our sailing is scheduled to depart at 18:45hrs. Overnight cabins are provided in 4 bedded lower bedded cabins inside or outside. Sole occupancy cabins will be allocated to 2-berth lower inside cabins for sole use).

Day Two

Our arrival time into Santander is 17:30hrs (Local time). We then take the short drive to Isla where we check into our hotel for our 4-night stay and arrive in time for dinner.

Day Three

A day at leisure to relax, spend time on the promenade or beach and enjoy the hotels facilities.

Day Four

Travel to Santillana del Mar, a village on the World Heritage List, best described as a living museum. In the afternoon stop in Comillas, the 'City of Archbishops' before returning to Isla.

Day Five

Full day to The Picos De Europa mountain range. Stop in San Vicente before joining the River Deva Valley, passing through a canyon, and on to Potes, a lovely market town set high in the mountains. Those who wish can continue to Fuente Dé for a cable car trip.

Day Six

This morning, we make the short journey to the fishing town of Santoña, the main canning port in Cantabria and famed for its anchovies in oil. The town holds a large outdoor market every Saturday, so while there we can mingle with the locals. Afterwards, we head south to spend the afternoon at leisure in one of Cantabria's most popular tourist towns of Laredo, with one of the longest and most beautiful beaches in the region.

Day Seven

To Santander with time to explore before boarding the afternoon sailing back to the UK (Our sailing is scheduled to depart at 18:45hrs).

Day Eight

Our scheduled arrival in Plymouth is at 15:45hrs(UK Time). After disembarkation we return to Henley-in-Arden during the evening.
