We commence our day with a visit to Waddesdon Manor House & Gardens - built in the French Renaissance style, this chateau was built by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild in 1874 to house his collection of fine art. It also has one of the finest examples of a late Victorian garden in Britain. From here we continue to our hotel for dinner and our 3-night stay.
Saturday
Our first stop today is in delightful Richmond-upon-Thames with chance to explore, relax by the river or on Richmond Green - London's largest town centre open space, or browse the shops and obtain a drink and bite to eat. Later, we continue to Hampton Court where we include entry to the Palace and Gardens. The annual Tulip festival is underway with thousands of Tulips engulfing the palace and gardens in spectacular floral fashion.
Sunday
This morning we travel to the splendid Royal Horticultural Society Garden at Wisley. The garden here is a place full of inspiration, Wisley offers ideas galore, with Wild Garden, Glasshouse, Model Gardens, Fruit Field, Arboretum and spectacular floral displays.
Monday
This morning we visit Brooklands - site of the world's first, purpose-built motor racing circuit, Brooklands was the birthplace of British motorsport and aviation, home of Concorde, and the site of many engineering and technological achievements throughout eight decades of the 20th century. The museum displays a wide range of Brooklands related motoring and aviation exhibits, ranging from giant racing cars, motorcycles and bicycles to an unparalleled collection of Hawker and Vickers aircraft, as well as Concorde. We return homeward in the afternoon.
