A springtime holiday to Yorkshire staying in Harrogate with its delightful Valley Gardens, Bettys Tea rooms, and a picturesque town centre. In York, we discover the chocolate heritage of the city at The Chocolate Story. We are also in James Herriot Country so we go behind the scenes of All Creatures Great and Small at the World of James Herriott.

Monday

Depart in the morning travelling to Yorkshire, arriving late afternoon at the Crown Hotel, Harrogate.

Tuesday

After a leisurely breakfast, we travel to the historic city of York. We begin with a visit to 'The Chocolate Story'. This takes you on a guided tour of the history of chocolate making in York. Afterward, the rest of the day is free for you to explore this fascinating city. There are lots of attractions to keep you busy, such as the National Railway Museum, Jorvik Centre, the City Walls, the little streets and alleyways of the Shambles, and not forgetting York Minster itself.

Wednesday

Today, we spend the day relaxing and exploring delightful Harrogate. Have a relaxing lunch in one of the many restaurants, cafes and bars, and enjoy some retail therapy. Wander through Valley Gardens, try afternoon tea at the famous Betty's Tea Rooms or just sit and watch the world go by.

Thursday

Today we journey to Ripon where it is market day and you have a chance to browse the stalls set up in the beautiful market square. Later we continue on to Thirsk where we visit The World of James Herriot. This fascinating tour includes many of the props and three studio sets as featured in the long-running TV series based on the life and times of local vet Alf Wright.

Friday

After breakfast it's homeward bound.
