With skies often clearer than in midwinter, conditions can be ideal for glimpsing nature’s colourful, dancing display. After crossing the Arctic Circle – a memorable experience in itself – two days in Narvik provide time to explore and perhaps join an evening tour in search of the aurora. Elsewhere, try winter activities such as tobogganing or husky sledding through snowy landscapes. Scenic cruising takes you past the striking Seven Sisters Mountain Range and the remarkable Torghatten Mountain, with its distinctive hole carved through the centre.
