Day One: Arrival

We travel north to Alnwick, arriving at the White Swan Hotel for a four-night stay.

Day Two

Discover magnificent Alnwick Castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland and famous for its appearances in the Harry Potter films and Downton Abbey. Explore the impressive State Rooms before visiting the beautiful Alnwick Garden, featuring striking sculptures, the Poison Garden and one of the world's largest treehouses.

Day Three

Enjoy a scenic drive to the attractive village of Rothbury, nestled in the heart of Coquetdale. Continue to Cragside House, the remarkable Victorian home of Lord Armstrong and the first house in the world to be lit by hydroelectricity.

Day Four

Cross the tidal causeway to Holy Island of Lindisfarne before spending free time in Bamburgh, overlooking one of Britain's most spectacular stretches of coastline.
NOTE: The crossing of the causeway to Holy Island is governed by tide times. It may be necessary to amend this excursion.

Day Five

After breakfast, we journey home.

White Swan, Alnwick

Set in the heart of the historic market town of Alnwick, the White Swan is a charming, 300-year-old coaching inn that blends its unique heritage with superb accommodation. The hotel is probably best known for its Olympic Dining Suite which features the magnificent panelling, mirrors and stained-glass windows from the Titanic’s sister ship. All bedrooms are ensuite and have television, telephone, hairdryer and tea & coffee making facilities. No lift but ground floor rooms available on request.
