Lake Bled & The Lakes & Caves of Slovenia

Friday 2nd

We drive to Dover for the short Channel crossing to Calais. Upon arrival, we continue to the Globales Post Hotel, Liege
for dinner and our overnight stay.

Saturday 3rd

Our journey continues into Germany to the town of Ulm, where our overnight half board is at the 3-star Seligweiler
Hotel.

Sunday 4th

We skirt Munich and Salzburg, before crossing through Austria into Slovenia, arriving in the afternoon at the Park Hotel
on Lake Bled for dinner and our 5-night stay.

Monday 5th

We spend the day at leisure in Bled, settling into our accommodation and enjoying our surroundings.

Tuesday 6th

We begin our adventure and head to Ljubljana where we are met by a
local guide who will bring the city to life on this tour. Although it is the capital of
Slovenia, it is easy to explore on foot and we see its Parliament square, old town
including Philharmonic Hall and three bridges as well as cathedral. In the afternoon
we visit the Lipica Stud Farm for a guided tour, famous for its white horses, where
we learn about the breeding and training of the famous Lipizzaner horses.

Wednesday 7th

Today we meet our local step-on guide who will join us for the day
(which includes walking elements), as we make our way to Lake Bohinj. Our
journey takes us through some beautiful Alpine scenery on the Pokljuka Plateau to
the River Savica and a photo opportunity, before we head to the far end of the lake
where we take a cable car to the Vogel viewpoint. On a clear day it is possible to
see the peaks of most of the Julian Alps. After our descent, we finish our day at
a local farm and cheese factory with a cheese tasting.

Thursday 8th

We have a treat today as we visit the Postojna Cave Park for entrance
to the Postojna Caves with a private English-speaking guide. Nearly 25km long,
this is one of the country’s top tourist attractions and is a truly captivating
experience, with stunning caverns, tunnels and geological wonders all created
naturally. On our return to the hotel, we stop for a photo stop of Predjama Castle,
a quite unique fortress built into the vertical rock face. Please note: the caves
involve a lot of walking, so may not be suitable for all.

Friday 9th

Departing after breakfast we journey through Austria into Germany for our
overnight at the Seligweiler Hotel, Ulm.

Saturday 10th

Departing Germany, we cross into France and our final night at the
Mercure Hotel, Reims Parc des Expositions.

Sunday 11th

We return to Calais for our sailing to Dover, returning to Henley during
the evening.
