Discover the dramatic beauty of Scotland’s far north on this memorable escorted coach holiday, travelling through ever-changing Highland scenery to Castletown and the rugged Caithness coast. Visit the late Queen Mother’s much-loved Castle of Mey, enjoy time in Wick and cross by ferry to the Orkney Islands for a guided tour of remarkable historic sites including Skara Brae, the Italian Chapel, Scapa Flow and Kirkwall. The holiday concludes with two nights in Perth, where you can relax at leisure and explore the city’s heritage before the journey home.

Day One: Arrival

A leisurely drive north to our overnight stop at Courtyard by Marriott Glasgow Airport.

Day Two

Departing our overnight stop, we journey north, experiencing ever changing scenery as we go further north, arriving at our main stay hotel in Castletown. We enjoy wine with dinner this evening.

Day Three

Visit the late Queen Mother's beloved Castle of Mey which has been kept just as it was when she was alive. Explore the gardens and enjoy views over the Pentland Firth. The remainder of the day will be spent with time at leisure in the nearby town of Wick.

Day Four

A full day excursion to Orkney including return ferry crossings from Gill's Bay with Pentland Ferries. On arrival, meet your local guide who will ensure the highlights of this wonderful island are not missed. These may include Skara Brae, the Churchill Barriers, Scapa Flow, Ring of Brodgar, the Italian Chapel and Kirkwall's magnificent cathedral. Admission to both Skara Brae and the Italian Chapel have been included.

Day Five

After breakfast, we travel south with a stop in Inverness before onward journey to Perth, where we check-in to The Royal George Hotel for 2 nights.

Day Six

A day at leisure in Perth. See the striking St John's Kirk, or visit Perth Black Watch Museum at Balhousie Castle which offers and insight into one of the British Army's if not the world's most famous fighting units.

Day Seven

After breakfast, we journey home.

Castletown Hotel

Set beside Dunnet Bay in the picturesque fishing village of Castletown, this family-run hotel is an ideal base for exploring Caithness. With a welcoming public bar, cosy residents’ lounge, bar and restaurant, the Castletown Hotel is known for its excellent food and locally sourced Scottish cuisine, offering a true Highland home from home. The hotel does not have a lift, but ground floor rooms are available on request.
