A scenic journey on the Dartmouth Steam Railway adds a nostalgic highlight, following the beautiful Torbay coastline and Dart Estuary before time in historic Dartmouth. Day One: Arrival

We travel to the West Country, making a suitable stop for lunch en-route and arrive at our hotel during the early afternoon.

Day two

After breakfast, enjoy a full-day excursion into the magnificent landscapes of Dartmoor National Park. Travel across the rugged moorland, passing granite tors, open heathland and picturesque villages. Stops may include: Princetown, Postbridge and the famous clapper bridge, Widecombe-in-the-Moor. Continue to Buckfast Abbey, home to a thriving Benedictine community. Explore the beautiful church, gardens and visitor centre before returning to Torquay.

Day Three

A day at leisure in Torquay. Enjoy free time in Torquay, the "Queen of the English Riviera," exploring the harbour, promenade, shops and cafés. In the afternoon, you have the choice of either remaining in Torquay for further free time or join the coach for an optional excursion to Paignton, to explore the harbour, coves and promenade.

Day Four

We include a ride on the Dartmouth Steam Railway, a wonderfully scenic journey from Paignton to Kingswear, first skirting the beautiful Torbay coastline at Goodrington Sands, then hugging the Dart Estuary, with boats bobbing in the harbours. After free time in Dartmouth, we return to Torquay.

Day Five

Departing our hotel after breakfast we return homeward making a convenient stop for lunch en-route arriving home in the afternoon.

Headland Hotel

Majestically overlooking Meadfoot Beach and the sea, set on the headland, the Headland is around 15 minutes’ walk to the Beach and Centre. Originally built for the Romanoff’s, the Russian Royal Family, this is an excellent seaside Hotel with good food and a Choice Menu, Dining at Leisure and 2-night entertainment. All bedrooms are en suite and have television, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. Bars, Restaurant, Lounge Area, Gardens and Spa & Hydro Pools. Mobility Grade: 3 The hotel has a lift which serves most Floors.
