Yuletide in York, Doubletree by Hilton York

Friday

We drive north to Temple Newsam House, a truly impressive Tudor-Jacobean mansion described as one of the best stately homes in Britain which has been beautifully restored to its former glory. On arrival we enjoy a Guided Tour of the rooms, filled with fine and decorative arts, showing 500 years of history. The mansion is also famous as the birthplace of Lord Darnley, notorious husband of Mary Queen of Scots. We include a 2-course lunch before continuing to our Hotel in York. Settle into our rooms before our 3-course choice dinner.

Saturday

After a traditional English breakfast we are free to explore the festive delights of York. After an included light lunch, we include seats for the matinee performance of 'The New Adventures of Peter Pan' at the Theatre Royal in York. Evening dinner is followed by a leisurely evening with musical accompaniment.

Sunday

Open your presents and enjoy a leisurely breakfast before our traditional Christmas lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy the Queen’s Speech. Alternatively, a stroll along the City Walls might help make room for the buffet served in the evening. To round off this special day join in the Christmas Quiz.

Monday

This morning we enjoy a scenic drive over the Howardian Hills to the delightful market town of Helmsley. We return via Sutton Bank for an included lunch at our hotel. Afternoon at leisure. Evening dinner is followed by live musical entertainment.

Tuesday

Departing our we visit the famous Victorian Spa town of Harrogate. Why not visit the Turkish Baths, glorious gardens or indulge in the famous Betty's Tearooms? Later, we continue home arriving during the early evening.
