Belton House Light Trail & Lincoln

Tuesday

We travel to the bustling market town of Melton Mowbray, famed the world over for its associations with pork pies and Stilton cheese. Every Tuesday a traditional market takes place that dates back over 1000 years, where you can pick up some fantastic gifts. We continue in the afternoon to our hotel for our 3-night stay.

Wednesday

Our day begins with a drive to Spalding. Here we visit Springfields Garden Centre with time to explore and time for lunch. In the afternoon, we continue to Belton House (NT), near Grantham. The perfect English country house, set in its own deer park, Belton was built in the 17th century and offers delightful gardens, orangery and lakeside walk. The house featured in BBC’s TV adaptation of Pride & Prejudice, starring Colin Firth. In the evening, enjoy the magical, after-dark, illuminated trail where you can surround yourself with some festive sparkle.

Thursday

We drive to the historic City of Lincoln with its magnificent Cathedral, and next to it the Norman Castle. The German Christmas Market were the UK’s first and now boasts over 300 stalls, nestled in the medieval square and surrounding areas creating a wonderful festive atmosphere.

Friday

Departing our hotel, we make our way to Denby Pottery Village, near Derby. Wander around the beautiful shops, café and experience the 200 years of craftsmanship in action during a tour of the factory. You will be welcomed by experienced Tour Guides, who will lead you through the working factory where you’ll discover the different techniques and processes used to create your favourite Denby pieces. We return home during the afternoon.
