Depart from Southampton

1 Day Sailing

Fri 9 May

Belfast - Belfast has many strong maritime links, most notably being home to the Harland & Wolff shipyard, where the iconic RMS Titanic was built. Construction began here in 1909, designed to meet the highest of standards, before she set sail on her infamous maiden voyage from Southampton on 10th April 1912. Belfast is also the starting point for visiting the impressive rock formation on the north coast, Giant’s Causeway, Northern Ireland’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986

Sat 10 May

Stornoway - Located on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, Stornoway is a thriving town with a busy port, best seen from the top of ‘Gallow’s Hill’ – reached by the impressive grounds of Lews Castle. Originally built in 1847, the castle has had some well-known owners, including Lord Leverhume, who founded the company now known as Unilever. He gave the castle to the people of Stornoway, where it served as a naval hospital and college, but is now a noteworthy museum.

Sun 11 May

Lerwick - Capital of the Shetland Islands, Lerwick is a popular tourist destination, thanks to its stunning coastlines. Close by are the soaring cliffs of Sumburgh Head, which are perfect for spotting various examples of marine life, such as minke whales, orcas and dolphins; and as an RSPB nature reserve - guillemots, shags and fulmars. In the town, the An Tuireann Arts Centre celebrates the Gaelic heritage of this fascinating seaport.

Sun 11 May Cont

Cruising by Sumburgh Head - Located at the southern tip of Shetland’s main island, Sumburgh Head is a towering, 100-metre-high rock spur capped by the Sumburgh Head Lighthouse – one of Scotland’s oldest, best-known and most photographed lighthouses. The head, and its unspoilt, rugged surroundings, are a designated RSPB Nature Reserve, providing the perfect natural habitat for various seabird species including Puffins, Fulmars, Guillemots, Razorbills and Kittiwakes. White-sided dolphins, Harbour Porpoises and Whales may also be seen here too.

Mon 12 May

Cruise by Troup Head, Moray Firth - With its dramatic cliffs, topped by lush green landscapes that stretch inland as far as the eye can see, Troup Head is part of Moray Firth’s unspoilt, wild and rugged coastline. The cliffs, rock faces and marshes of Troup Head – a designated RSPB Scotland Nature Reserve – are a haven for tens of thousands of seabirds, such as for kittiwakes, guillemots and razorbills. Troup Head is also the habitat of Scotland’s only mainland gannet colony.

Your Cruise Ship

MS Borealis

Bearing a name that inspires thoughts of the Aurora Borealis, the elegant Borealis proudly connects with Fred Olsen’s Norwegian heritage. Stylish, spacious and comfortable, with capacity for fewer than 1,400 guests, she is in keeping with their commitment in offering a more traditional style of cruising. But while Borealis’ capacity is smaller than many cruise vessels, she is still one of the largest ships in the Fred Olsen fleet. On board you will find you are never overcrowded. There is always ample room in which to indulge yourself in the stylish dining venues, enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple and fantastic entertainment at the bars, lounges and theatres, and while away the hours by the all-season pool.

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines is a family-owned favourite in the British cruise market offering guests a traditional cruising experience from many ports across the UK. For 2021 Fred. Olsen have added two new vessels to their fleet – The Bolette and the Borealis. Each vessel has its own unique style and personality and will bring exciting new features for our guests to enjoy.

  • More space throughout the ships

  • Original artwork and premium décor

  • An all-weather swimming pool with a retractable roof

  • A wide choice of restaurants, lounges and bars

  • More balcony cabins and suites

  • Culinary demonstration and wine tasting venues

  • A classic two-tiered theatre

  • Dedicated meeting spaces, perfect for groups

  • Additional spa facilities including a thermal suite, hydrotherapy pool and more treatment rooms

These two ships along with the classic-styled mid to small size ships; Balmoral and Braemar, allow for docking in smaller, unique ports of call. For 2021 we feature cruises with three of their popular vessels, all offering that quintessential English feel! We can’t wait to welcome you on board.
