Austria Zell Am See & The Eastern Tyrol

Wednesday

We drive to Dover for the short Channel crossing to Calais. Upon arrival, we proceed to Metz for our overnight stay at the Novotel Metz Hauconcourt

Thursday

Through Germany, into Austria and on to the lakeshore town of Zell am See for a 5-night stay at the 4-star Hotel Latini.

Friday

A day at leisure in Zell am See. Explore the village, take a cable car into the mountains or travel on the Pinzgauer Lokalbahn narrow gauge railway to nearby villages. Alternatively, enjoy a leisure cruise on Lake Zell.

Saturday

Travel to the elegant city of Salzburg, known for its culture, splendid architecture and as the birthplace of Mozart. Enjoy a walking tour of the centre followed by free time to visit one of the many museums, the Cathedral,
St. Peter’s Abbey or Hohensalzburg Castle which sits high above the city.

Sunday

Travel along the Grossglockner High Alpine Pass via the Hohe Tauern National Park and see Austria’s highest peak with views of the glacier and breathtaking scenery. The mountain pass road with a total of 48 km and
36 turns leads deep into the centre of Austria’s largest national park. The highest point of the mountain road is the Edelweissspitze where several 3,000 m peaks open up to the wandering gaze, with the largest of them being the Grossglockner. This Alpine Pass is like an ornament of ribbons located between green mountain pastures, colourful flower meadows, rocky rubble, ice and show. It nestles up against hills against whooshing waterfalls with the shrill whistling of marmots creating an unforgettable high alpine experience.

Monday

A local excursion to nearby town of Kitzbühel – one of the most charming and upmarket of the Tyrolean ski resorts. The town of Kitzbühel has quaint cobbled streets leading into gentle summer pastures filled with cows.
After time to explore the colourful town centre with its many cafés we return via the pretty village of Feiberbrunn

Tuesday

After breakfast we leave Austria and retrace our steps through Germany to Forbach arriving in time for dinner and our overnight stay at the Novotel Metz Hauconcourt.

Wednesday 25

Departing Forbach, we return to Calais for our sailing to Dover, returning to Henley during the evening.
