Viking and Norman invasions, medieval feasts, Tudor times, The English Civil War, the Georgian Renaissance, Industrial Revolution and Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in between. We travel north via a stop in Harrogate, a Victorian spa town with great shopping and eating.

Saturday

A morning visit to explore the captivating city of Durham with its winding, cobbled streets, by the dramatic Durham Cathedral and Castle World Heritage Site - one of the most stunning city panoramas in Europe. Following an early dinner at the hotel, we make our way to Auckland Castle for the show. As dusk turns to darkness, Kynren takes you on a spellbinding voyage through history, myth and legend.

Sunday

Today, we visit Beamish Open-Air Museum - a living museum which tells the story of life in North East England in Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian times.

Monday

A leisurely drive homeward arriving home during the afternoon.
