Today we travel the short distance to the natural wonder that is the Giant’s Causeway World Heritage Site. We’ve included entry to the visitor centre to discover the story of Giant Finn McCool and learn about the history & legend of the causeway. This afternoon we make our way to Castlerock and visit The Chocolate Manor. Here we are able to learn about the history of the Chocolate Manor and view the working kitchen. An exciting demo will then take place of truffle making and chocolate tempering and of course we can’t forget the sampling of the goods!
Wednesday
After a leisurely breakfast we journey to the walled city of Londonderry where we visit a landmark of the city the Guildhall for a guided tour. The Guildhall’s most impressive feature is its collection of stunning stained-glass windows. Donated by London Companies, they represent everything from fishmongers to musicians. After our visit, enjoy free time at leisure to explore the city. Perhaps browse the city shops, explore the museums or even see the murals of the Dalai lama, John Hume and the Derry Girls.
Thursday
This morning we journey southwest to the Ulster American Folk Park. This open-air museum replicates the journey hundreds of bold Irish migrants took as they emigrated to the new American Frontier in the 18th and 19th centuries. See the traditional Irish thatched cottages, people were forced to leave during the potato famine. Board the Brig Union ship and see the living quarters where hundreds of people lived during their twelve-week Atlantic crossing. Emerge from the crossing and learn how resourceful Irish ancestors created new lives in a new land. After our visit we make a stop in the town of Omagh for a chance to grab a bite to eat and have a look around before we head back to the hotel.
Friday
After breakfast, we leave and begin our journey home.
