Wednesday
A leisurely drive north to Perth, where we spend 2-nights at The Royal George Hotel (3-star).
Thursday
Today, a local coach and driver meets us at our hotel an takes us for a visit to Scone Palace, crowning place of
Scottish kings including Robert the Bruce and Charles II and family home of the Earls of Mansfield. We have time to explore
the palace with its fine collections of furniture, porcelain, ivories, clocks, paintings and other objets d'art. Free time in Perth in
the afternoon.
Friday
We travel north, pausing in the highland capital of Inverness. We continue our journey in the afternoon to Wick, arriving
at the popular Norseman Hotel for our 3-night stay.
Saturday
A full day excursion to Orkney including return ferry crossings from Gill’s Bay with Pentland Ferries. On arrival, meet
your local guide who will ensure the highlights of this wonderful island are not missed. These may include Skara Brae, the
Churchill Barriers, Scapa Flow, Ring of Brodgar, the Italian Chapel and Kirkwall's magnificent cathedral. Admission to both
Skara Brae and the Italian Chapel have
been included.
Sunday
Visit Her Majesty the Queen
Mother's beloved Castle of Mey which
has been kept just as it was when she
was alive. Explore the gardens and
enjoy the views over the Pentland Firth.
Later, we visit John O’ Groats – the
northernmost point of the mainland
where we will be literally at the ‘edge
of Scotland’!
Monday
Departing our hotel we
journey south pausing for refreshment
breaks in Dingwall and Pitlochry
before reaching the Courtyard by
Marriott near Glasgow Airport for
dinner and our final night’s stay.
Tuesday
Homeward Bound.
The hotel overlooks the River Wick and is only a few minutes' walk from the town centre * 48 bedrooms * No lift but plenty of ground floor rooms.
Idyllically located on the banks of the River Tay in the heart of Perth (No Lift at this Hotel. All rooms are accessed by at least one flight of stairs.
Lift access to all floors.
All hotels are varied in style and standards. Travellers should consider the fact that they will often be in beautiful, yet isolated locations where hotel availability is extremely limited
