Monday

We depart and make our
way to Cumbria, arriving late afternoon
at the Newby Bridge Hotel for our
4-night stay.

Tuesday

Today we begin with a drive
along the roads of the Grizedale Forest
Park to Ambleside. We pause here
before heading north past Lake
Thirlmere to Keswick. We have our
lunch break here. This afternoon we
head for beautiful Lake Ullswater and
Glenridding for a short stop. We drive
over the rugged Kirkstone Pass, with
the lonely inn at the summit, and drop
down to Lake Windermere.

Wednesday

Our day begins with a short
ride to Haverthwaite Station. Here we
catch the train to Lakeside where we
visit the Aquarium of the Lakes –
Britain’s largest freshwater aquarium. Next, we join the ‘steamer’ for a cruise
to Bowness where we have time to
enjoy the town.

Thursday

Today we follow the coast to
Ulverston, birthplace of Stan Laurel.
From here we drive up the West Coast
to Ravenglass. Here we take a ride on
L’al Ratty – The Ravenglass and Eskdale
Miniature Railway. From here, we return
to the hotel via the southern fells.

Friday

Homeward Bound.

Directly overlooking Lake Windermere in lovely, landscaped grounds, Newby Bridge Hotel is the perfect base for a Lake District holiday. Hotel facilities include an oak-panelled restaurant and ‘The Huntsman’s Inn’ traditional bar along with a leisure centre with pool, spa pool, gym and steam room. All bedrooms are ensuite and are well appointed with views overlooking the beautiful gardens or the lake itself.
