Thursday
To Dover for our sailing to Calais. We continue to Paris and our 4-night stay at the Novotel Saclay.
Friday
Today we visit the Chateau and Gardens of Versailles which are among the most illustrious of World Heritage Sites. Built by the 'Sun King', Louis XIV, the Chateau contains a magnificent collection of fine furniture and artworks. We include a guided tour of the interior where you’ll witness the awe-inspiring Hall of Mirrors. Stroll at leisure through the stunning formal gardens. During the summer months, visitors can also witness the magical Musical Fountains Show and explore the fountains and groves with their water features spouting to the rhythm of the music.
Saturday
A morning at leisure where we enjoy lunch at our hotel before boarding our coach to visit another beautiful chateau. Chateau de Vaux-le- Vicomte is a 17th century, privately owned masterpiece that has been restored to its former glory with richly furnished and decorated rooms and wonderful formal grounds. To add a touch of ‘romance’, this evenings visit, will be via candlelight, where the breathtaking gardens and chateau will be illuminated by over 2000 candles creating a unique and memorable experience.
Sunday
A lunchtime entrance to the lovingly restored Monet’s Garden at Giverny' It is a source of as much pleasure today as it was to its creator. Here, where the painter lived until his death in 1929, the perspectives, symmetries and colours of the flower garden and water garden were the inspiration for some of his most famous works.
Monday
We return to Calais for the ferry sailing to Dover, returning home during the evening.
This modern hotel has been built around a renovated farmhouse and courtyard and is located in the countryside south of Paris. 139 bedrooms, restaurant, lounge/bar. Outdoor pool & large terrace area.
